To facilitate TickTick users who travel a lot, we introduced the Time Zone options in the app. Follow the steps below to enable the Time Zone options.
- For mobile devices: Settings - General - Time Zone
- For desktops: Settings - Preferences/ General - Time Zone
Once enabled, when you set time for tasks, you’ll be able to select between Fixed Time Zone and Floating Time.
Fixed Time Zone
If you select a Fixed Time Zone, the time set for your task will be adjusted according to the actual time zone you are in.
Example 1: If you travel from San Francisco to Moscow, the task set at 11 AM (Pacific Standard Time) in San Francisco will be updated to 10 PM the same day in Moscow.
When the time of a certain task is based on a certain time zone (e.g. pay rent every month on the 28th by 12 AM Pacific Standard Time), even if you’re abroad, you can use Fixed Time Zone to automatically calculate the corresponding local time. Besides, Fixed Time Zone can not only deal with the situations of individual traveling, but also help with across-timezone collaboration.
Example 2: You work in New York and now is in the winter time (Eastern Standard Time). A colleague in Mumbai informs you that the meeting will be held at 7:30 AM India Time. You just need to add the task, and then: select Fixed Time Zone -> select India Standard Time -> set the time to 7:30 AM. The task will be automatically calculated to remind you of the meeting at 9 PM (Eastern Standard Time) the day before.
Floating Time
If you select a floating time, the time set of your task will stay the same no matter where you are in the world.
Example: You keep the habit to do jogging at 7 AM every morning. You can just set the time to 7 AM and select Floating Time. In this way, no matter whether you’re on business travel in Los Angeles, or taking a vacation in Barcelona, TickTick will remind you to do the morning jogging at 7 AM based on the local time.
